Discussion Question #1:
What are some termination methods? Is a termination by extinction wrong? Explain.
What are some termination methods?
Termination by Extinction: The project is stopped because it has been completed/successful or
because it has failed/unsuccessful.
Termination by Integration: A common method of ending successful projects, where “The
output of the project becomes a standard part of the operating systems of the parent, or client”
(Meredith & Mantel, 2006, p. 628).
Termination by Starvation: Although referred to as a termination, it is a starvation. This type of
termination is generally due to budget and/or resource cuts.
Is a termination by extinction wrong? Explain.
No, termination by extinction is not wrong. Regardless of success or failure, all projects must
end. As stated in the text, termination by extinction is due to either success or failure. In my
opinion, there is nothing wrong with termination by extinction regardless of success or failure.

ed.). New York, NY: Wiley.
