The video shows us the effects of mining in Marinduque. In the first part of the
video we can see that a lot of people are getting thinner because a lot of them are eating
marine life that came from Calancan Bay, in which those marine life in the bay were widely
affected and contaminated by the chemicals that came from the mining. Trees and other
natural resources were devastated and mountains were deformed because they keep on
digging as a result, they experienced flood and other natural disaster. Their main
livelihood which is fishing was greatly affected because the bay was contaminated and
the number of fish they should be collected are getting smaller. Farmers can’t do irrigation
because the water that they should be using was contaminated and can’t be used. A lot
of them are experiencing skin diseases and there was this old man in the video in which
his feet got rot that it can’t be easily cure. Most of them got a high lead level and some of
them got this cancer of the blood. Their government tried to cure this problem in their
province but then it was too late for it was a big trouble for the people in Marinduque not
only in their livelihood but also in their everyday life.
The video wants to prove that mining is not good in our environment for it destroys
our natural resources and most of all it affects our health condition. The video wants to
gives us a message that we should start changing our environment by stopping this kind
of work which is mining and we don’t know if this kind of work will still continue how can
the province of Marinduque can survive if there will be no more marine life living in their
rivers and bays. How can the people of Marinduque survive if they keep on having these
kinds of disease? Also, the video shows how people in Marinduque abusing the nature
