In other words, it stipulates a benchmark for professional practice as far as the field of engineering is concerned. Once taught on ethics, engineering students are able to deal with situations in the industry as they come. It is therefore vital that students are educated on these matters. In every organization where engineering activities take place, a code of conduct is formulated to govern all the engineering activities. Some organizations even go to an extent of appointing an ethical committee consisting of an internal and an external director. This committee has the responsibilities of communicating the code of conduct to all members of the organization and also holding meetings on regular basis to discuss matters of ethics within the organization. In the field of engineering, professional engineering bodies have formulated codes of conduct in various countries to govern engineering activities in those respective countries.
