Juvenile delinquency is a participation in an illegal act by individuals who are young.
In the United States, a juvenile delinquent is one who is of age below 18 years and involves
themselves in illegal behaviour. The kind of acts they commit would have been charged by
law with a crime if they were over 18 years, or otherwise adults. Some articles in Los
Angeles Times newspaper outline juvenile delinquency. The first article is on 8th Dec 2010,
where Sara Kruzan shot and killed a man and took off his money. The type of delinquency is
murder. Social, the environmental factors that played a role, in this case, was that the lady
had been brought up by an addicted mother. Also, she had been sexually abused and later sent
out to the streets to earn a living as young as 13 years as a prostitute. This factors influenced
the delinquency in the fact that she was in the process of trying to earn herself a living by
taking the money from the man.
In the second article, a 16-year-old girl was accused of beating an elderly woman to
death. The social factor leading to the crime was a lack of morality as was confirmed by the
judge. The factor influenced to the extent of killing because she had to do empathy on the
woman. With the last article, a boy who was 17 years in high school was accused of raping
and killing a schoolmate. He was charged with kidnapping, rape and murder of a girl who
was 16 years old. The social factor was the lack of moral values that largely influenced to the
extent of not respecting the rights of the young girl and abusing her sexually.
