(ii) The diagram above shows that majority of the cancer patients die during the first year
of starting their treatments there are a small number of people who have survived for
more than 4 years after their cancer treatment.
b.) (i)
Re-arranging data in the ascending order:
0.7 0.8 0.9 1.1 1.2 1.2 1.2 1.3 1.6 1.7 2.4 2.4 3.4
Mean of this data is 1.53
Median in this data is 1.2
(ii) This will be a left skewed distribution because left tail has more data in it.
Question Number 2
a.) This question is related to binomial probability distribution and there may be two
outcomes that either the student will be a right handed or a left handed.
Give that
P(left) = 0.08
Hence P(right) = 1-P(left) = 0.92
(i) Probability of no student is left handed:
P(x=0) = 20C
0
× (0.08)
0
× (0.92)
20
= 0.189
(ii) 2 out of 20 students are left handed:

b.) Mutually Exclusive Events are the events in which two events cannot occur together. If event
A occurs then Event B cannot occurs and vice versa.
Independent Events are the events in which if Event A occur, it will not affect the Event B and
vice versa.
My opinion is against the given statement that, “two events will be free if they are
equally exclusive” because due to the occurrence of these events other events
automatically become affected.
For example
First Event: Company P purchases company Q
Second Event: Company A purchases company B
Both of these two events are exclusive mutually but in the real world if the Q and
B are in the same sector then this may have an impact on the buying behavior of A and P
company because the pricing is comparative.
Question 3:
a)
i. Probability that the company will secure one of these two projects:
= 0.4 x 0.7 + 0.6 x 0.3
= 0.46 Answer
ii. Probability that the company will not secure any of these two projects.
= 1 0.3 x 0.4
= 0.88 Answer
