Document Description

Rene Descartes was a great mathematician and philosopher born in France in 1596. He associated with Galileo Galilei, a great physicist who was born in Italy. Descartes published “Discourse on the Method” in 1637 where he wrote the phrase, “I think, therefore I am.” These are words that signified the comprehensive existence of one’s self as a reality that formed arguably the most famous and important quotes in the history of modern philosophy. This made Descartes to be called the father of modern philosophy (Jones, 2013).
