Runninghead: SOCIAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE WORLD 3 Introduction Various themes help by letting us understand the different perspectives with which we view the world. A perspective is simply a view or a prospect towards something, while a theory is a supposition that I aimed at explaining something. Theories help us come with perspectives. Sociology, which is the study of the human society, includes three primary theoretical perspectives: the functionalist, conflict and the micro view also called the (symbolic) interactionist perspective. All of these perspective helps in offering various explanations about the world as perceived by humans. Functionalist Perspective Based on functionalism, the society is made of interconnected sections, which all work harmoniously to maintain a social equilibrium. The theory explains that each social institution has a role in contributing to society’s functions.
