1. If you don’t have a diverse group of people on your team, how can you ensure that
you will have robust discussions and decision-making? What techniques can you use
to generate conversations from different perspectives?
Having a diverse group is ideal for all leaders; however, this may not be the case. A leader
still has to make sure that they are generating conversations from different perspectives. One of
the critical things to do is to ensure that there is proper communication. The team members should
be able to communicate with each other and discuss what they are working on (Roberson, 2019).
Another approach is to have a participative approach, and this entails having the group members
participate in the decision-making. This will help to make them own the project, and they will give
it their best effort. Coming up with ways to make it better.
Another thing is to build trust among the group members. When the members trust each
other, they can speak and share the ideas that they may have, making the group more productive.
Also, it is crucial that all the group members are treated equally with no discrimination. All should
be given an opportunity to share the ideas that they have (Lee, 2021).
2. Evaluate your team at work. Is it a diverse team? How would you rate the quality of
decisions generated from that group?
The team that I have had to work with was diverse. I would therefore rate the decisions
made 8 out of 10. This is because people were able to share and come to a conclusion. All the
opinions that people had were discussed among the team members, and justification was made for
choosing one instead of the other. The team members also weighed in fully on the project, making
it successful to own the project.
