The gastrointestinal tract is also called the alimentary canal. This is a oneway tube that starts at the mouth and consists of the mouth pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, and ends at the anus. Its job is to digest/breakdown food to take nutrients which will be absorbed by the body. Wastes will be expelled from the anus.
