1 Running Head: ARTICLE ANALYSIS Article Analysis Student’s Name Institution 2 ARTICLE ANALYSIS Article Analysis A Brief Introduction And Summary Of The Article This paper intends to discuss the article written on the US-Canada free trade. The article expounds the changes that have altered trade arrangements in the western hemisphere for the past 20 years (Hufbauer & Kotschwar, 1998). The paper gives an extensive insight into the trade agreements in Latin America, South America, North America, and the United States. A history of how regional trade agreements were used to boost the economic development of the American land is also provided in this article. Regional Trading Arrangements In The Article 1. Latin American Free Trade Agreement (LAFTA/ALALC) This regional trade arrangement was established in the 1960s. It grew rapidly and eventually incorporated the countries in South America and Mexico. Later, six of the countries that formed LAFTA joined to establish another trade agreement. 2. Central American Common Market (CACM) In the article, CACM was among the early trade arrangement in the American Land. It comprised of five members from Central America. This trade agreement did not do much to implement the things that were initially outlined in its agreements. 3.
