Many social and economic challenges are posed to adapt to this trend. These challenges are because the old citizens tend to be dependent on the working age. The problem of having a rapidly aging population is mainly caused by the declining fertility rate. (PwC, 2016) This situation is because women who are currently in the reproductive age want smaller families than the past generation. The current life expectancy in Britain is also high whereby there thirty percent of the children who were born in the United Kingdom in 2012 are likely to live to the age of 100. The longevity of life in the U.K is because of the improved diets and health care in the country. (21st Century Challenges, 2016). In the U.K, there are about seven million pensioners who are living in poverty. Twentyfive percent of the black Caribbean people, half of the Pakistani and Bangladesh people are still living under the poverty line. 25 percent of the total number of old household live in houses that are not decent that has a high impact on their health and also the amount of money spent in paying heating bills.
