It is worth acknowledging that safety of patients is crucial in any healthcare setting and that it is mainly dependent on quality. With high quality health services, patients become safer as less errors are realized. One of the ways in which quality is related to safety in healthcare is that safety is one of the components of quality. A critical examination of quality care indicates that it has to be safe and timely. According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), healthcare services should be aimed at improving lives of patients (Waring, 2016) and this can only be achieved by provision of quality services to patients by use of appropriate equipment which uphold safety of all the stakeholders including patients. Additionally, safety and quality are related as they are realized simultaneously. A critical examination of healthcare settings indicate that quality of healthcare is greatly dependent on the work procedures that are employed. In the case where the work procedures are safe then patients are assured of high quality services.
