Walmart Inc. has developed over the years in becoming a multinational company in the United States and its mostly termed as the poster child of globalization. Globalization has been one of the major challenges that has impacted Walmart in all levels of its expansion and change. In its forty years of operation, Walmart has been hugely impacted by the forces of globalization which have influenced its corporate culture, philosophies, values, vision and management practices. Globalization brought about economic liberalization, advances in transportation, technology, supply chain and logistics which created a great challenge to the traditional bricks and mortar Retail Company. In this paper, we will be discussing the challenge of globalization on Walmart as a traditional brick and mortar Retail Company and the strategies of overcoming this challenge.
