With the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the United States, and the two world superpowers as the major players in the Cold War, repulsion failed to last for long after WWII until the end of the 1980s (Westad, 2017). Significantly, the Cold War influenced the history of the 20th century considerably and went ahead until to date. The Apartheid Apartheid was the initial period when an African nation received independence from the European rule. The rule established institutionalized racism and a rigid segregation system. According to Maylam (2017), it was the first time it indicated nationalism from a society, which involved descendants of the former European colonial rule prior to British taking over. During the period when other nations across started having nationalism, racism, and conservatism declined in earnest; South Africa tended to move to the opposite direction through the adoption of rigid segregation system.
