Surname 1 Student Name Course Instructor Date Gorillas and Lemurs’ Behaviors and Living Habits Before going to the Zoo, the first thought that came into my mind is about common human ancestry with the primates. But visiting the Happy Hollow and San Francisco zoos and observing behaviors and tendencies of gorillas and lemurs, was a quick reminder. When one carefully looks at the primates' phenetic taxonomy, one can notice that there is a vast difference between lemurs and gorillas. Gorillas come from Anthropoidea taxonomical group while Hominoidea is the taxonomical group of lemurs (Park 148). Gorillas and lemurs show very different behavior patterns which indicate that gorillas to be more social like humans compared to lemurs non-social and nocturnal behaviors. This essay highlights my observations that human beings share the same ancestry background with gorillas since the two are in the same family. It helps one understand behaviors of human in a better way. These tree-dwelling primates hair is coarse and long, and it's usually black or dark brown. Females' baldness is more extensive than in males. Females weigh between 100-149 pounds while males weigh between 120-170 pounds. Their most known means of walking is by use of the four legs where their hind legs are flexed slightly, and the body is tipped forward when the fingers are on the ground.
