It is a complex disorder that entails an individual having an excess amount of fat in the body. It results when an individual is taking in a lot of calories than he or she can burn. It is diagnosed when the Body Mass Index of an individual in the adolescent age is more than the 95th percentile range of their height and weight, and this also depends on the gender of an individual. An individual is said to be in an adolescent stage when he or she is between the ages of 10 to 19 years. When an individual becomes obese during this stage, he or she moves with it even to the adult stage, which begins at 20 years to around 35 years. In most cases, individuals tend to confuse between overweight and obese, which are not the same but are points on the concept of the weight range. In the United States, the numbers of individuals that have adolescent obesity have had an increasing momentum. The public health providers have depicted that obesity and overweight have attained proportions regarded as an epidemic in the United States.
