This is because, in the past few decades, access to justice has been affected mostly by racial, economic factors in society (Bottomley&Bronitt, 2012). The effect here has been that the members of the minority communities, as well as those from the middle and lower classes in the society, have not been able to access quality, and fair justice and in some cases have been discriminated by the justice systems mandated to protect their fundamental human rights (Bottomley&Bronitt, 2012). Another current trend that has produced a significant effect on the area of access to justice is the influence of liberal ideas penetrating the justice systems as well as the impact of westernization. This paper seeks to demonstrate various factors that have influenced the access to justice with an emphasis on the penetration of liberal ideas and western legal ideologies in the justice system.
