Although the use of machines has been around for thousands of years, it has only recently gained more popularity due to its efficiency and ease of doing certain tasks. “Pretty much from the moment machines could handle any sort of repetitive task, humans have worried about their own impending uselessness” (​Rosen, 2015). ​These machines are now being used in the workplace to perform many tasks that humans cannot perform. However, machines in the workplace are also being used to perform tasks that humans are able to do because of their ability to complete tasks at a faster rate than humans. This is causing human workers to not be needed as much as they could be. “​It’s estimated that ​45% of the current workload​ humans are currently paid to do could be automated by technologies that exist right now” (Fresno, 2018). ​One of the roles that machines can play is that of a pastry chef because of their ability to make cakes and pies with just a few ingredients in such little time and effort.
