Are violence and mental illness linked? This is a question that a community may answer straightforwardly due to the stigma that they have formed between mental illness and abuse. Mental illness is conflated with the concept of dangerousness in society, and many people believe that disorder is mostly caused by people who are mentally ill. The fact that people do not know is that most of the violence within society is caused by people who are not mentally ill. VIOLENCE AND MENTAL ILLNESS 3 Introduction We are in a society where mental illness is associated with several negative phenomena that we see in our day to day lives. One of the most common aspects that have been linked to mental illness is violence. Many people do believe that most of the people who love the intensity and will resort to violence as a means to solve any issue they come across are people suffering from some mental disorders.
