The primary task of the law was to protect the United States citizens against wage discrimination based on their gender. The excerpt that follows will look at some of the crucial characteristics of the law, some primary stipulations and finally, case law related to the Act. Summary of the Act Uniform payment for uniform work, the Act stipulates that there should be no disparity in the wage of women and men for the same job done. Therefore, women and men are paid according to work done and not their gender. The primary function of the law was to reduce gender-based bias at the workplace as studies had shown that women received less pay than their male counterparts for jobs that required the same responsibilities and skills.
