Immigration has been a critical issue in the USA, and it has been faced controversy over the years during the reign of different presidents. During the 1920s the topic of immigration became the centre of the nation's political debate and policies and decisions made during this period determined how immigrants were treated in the next decade. The debate revolved around that need to impose restrictions on legal immigration. On one side there are those who championed for stringent laws on immigration to curb the massive immigration into the nation on the ground that the country was experiencing civil unrest and economic dislocation. On the other hand, groups representing interests of different ethnic groups and employers were among those who championed for unrestricted immigration. Excellent medical and education sectors and hope for better employment opportunities in America were some of the few factors that lured immigrants into the USA. Regardless of the benefits that Native Americans would achieve from restricted immigration, those debates were of no good to the immigrants who intended to move into the nation to achieve better opportunities.
