Running head: CORRELATION AS MEASURE OF ASSOCIATION SUMMARY Correlation as A Measure of Association Summary Institutional Affiliation Date 1 CORRELATION AS MEASURE OF ASSOCIATION SUMMARY 2 In typical scientific research, correlation being used as a possible measure of association needs testing to prove that there exists an association or rather relationship between two independent and dependent variables. The sole purpose of testing is to identify the particular direction and strengths of the specific association amongst the given variables (Todros, and Hero, 2012). It is argued that the correlation between variables might typically exist when a particular variable either decreases or increases in a particular manner that is predictable. There exist various methods in scientific research that can be used effectively to establish a correlation amongst different variables. Such methods that can be used, solely depend on the individual researcher. The use of surveys is considered to be amongst the greatest methods that can possibly be used to determine a correlation between variables.
