Afilalo, Xue, Soucy, Colacone, Jourdenais, and Boivin (2017) explain that patients require to improve their health standards (e.g., nutrition programs) while the healthy people will either need to improve or maintain their health status (e.g., dialysis and therapy) (Emmanuel, 2019; Hurley, 2011); in either case, the people will require health care. Quality healthcare requires more qualified staff (e.g., educated and experienced surgeons) and equipment (e.g., Bluetooth-enabled smart inhalers) and both require more funds. The debate on the effects of finance on healthcare is, therefore inevitable; with some people arguing that health care is limited to a group of well off individuals due to increasing costs (Khodyakov, 2016). Others feel that quality healthcare is paramount and that the costs are but collateral and unavoidable (like Alzheimer's disease) (Larkin, Swanson, Fuller, & Cortés, 2014). As the HR director, you know federal and state laws prohibit such practice. Identify a specific section in Chapter 2 of your course textbook that assures everyone equal opportunity and how you would respond to the CEO using this section. Include in your discussion an example when exclusion fair employment practice does not violate federal and state fair employment laws.
