Fair use is a doctrine that is used in law of the United States that permits use of copyrighted material partially without having to acquire permission from the copyright holder. This means that one can use specific parts of someone work without having to acquire permission from them. In most cases, its accepted when the user does not necessarily want to benefit themselves and also the copyright holder benefits from such activities. Summary In the case of Authors Guild v. Google, Inc., 804 F. 3d 202, the court refused to review the lower court`s ruling and therefore the plaintiff decided to appeal to the Supreme Court.
