Question 2 a) Tarpaper: a heavy-duty paper used in construction and that is impregnated with tar. b) Lingering: the state of something lasting for a long tim, such as thoughts. c) Converge: coming together from different directions and eventually meeting at a specific point. d) Incarcerate: to imprison or confine someone in a specific location e) Flutter: to fly unsteadily or hover around by flapping the wings lightly and in quick succession. Question 3 The article has been interesting as I have learned that more than ten thousand Japanese Americans were confined within an area of less than one square mile. The prisoners suffered harsh conditions, including low wages during their stay in the internment camps. I have also learned that Manzanar is a historical site which attracted over 105000 people in 2016. Lastly, I have learned that the presidential executive order 9066 effectively sanctioned the creation of the internment camps. I was surprised that a government could be so discriminative that it imprisons its citizens based on their race.
