Home Visit with Sallie Mae Fisher Name Institution Date 1|Page Sallie Mae Fisher is experiencing several health problems which are mostly fueled by the recent loss of her husband. She describes him as her best friend and companion for over fifty-eight years. The loss has affected her psychological, psychosocial, educational and spiritual well being. One of the problems that Sallie is facing is rapid weight loss. Sallie has lost 14 pounds in less than a week which is cause for alarm. This problem can be attributed to her lack of appetite and poor eating habits (Collins, 2015). Additionally, Sallie’s heart rate is also relatively low at 58 beats per minute, although not very far from the accepted minimum of 60 beats per minute. Her low heart rate could be due to her age or lack of enough energy for the heart to pump sufficient blood to the rest of the body (Brewer, 2014). Besides, Sallie also has another problem of having no bowel movement in three days. The lack of bowel movement can be because of her eating disorder, stress due to the death of her husband, her heavy medication especially pain killers, not being active seeing she is always in the house, not having enough water, and not having enough fiber in her food. Further, Sallie’s mucous membranes are dry which could be caused by her inactivity hence staying indoors most of her time, use of certain medicine especially now that she has so many prescriptions and hormonal changes (Collins, 2015).
