Hate crimes, racism, and discrimination are some of the significant social problems in society. These vices often end up denying people of certain social groups’ equal rights. These social groups include racially, religious, and sexually diverse social groups. Hate crime is a prejudice-based felony targeted towards certain social groups or individuals for hate or bias. Racism in the US is a form of prejudice towards minority race such as African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians. Discrimination, on the other hand, is a form of prejudice where people from certain social groups are unfairly treated based on the unique characteristics that they present. Acts of discrimination may take various ways to include policies and laws. Laws that limit the freedom of expression of specific groups such as movement, association, and right to own property are a form of discrimination. Some of the groups affected by discriminative laws are same-sex and interracial couples.
