Implications of the diabetes prevention program and Look AHEAD clinical trials for lifestyle interventions. Journal of the American Dietetic Association, 108(4), S66-S72. In this article, two approaches to the management of diabetes are evaluated with the aim of determining the differences between them and using the gathered information to recommend strategies that would help make the implementation of the results from both tests feasible. The two approaches are; The Look AHEAD (Action for Health in Diabetes) trial and the diabetes prevention program, both of which are clinical trials that evaluate the long-term relationship between nutrition and diabetes type II. The look AHEAD approach was found to be more ambitious than the alternative approach. One strength of this research is that it looks at these two approaches jointly and uses obtained data to come up with recommendations based on both approaches, capitalizing on their strengths. One weakness is that it relies on previous research and as such, it can be prone to the weaknesses and biases that the previous research harbored.
