Running head: PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT Personality Development Institution Affiliation Date 1 2 PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT Operant Conditioning Operant conditioning is a concept that was developed by B.F Skinner. According to B.F Skinner, learning can be achieved by rewarding and punishing behavior. By use of operant conditioning, it is easy to make an association between the behavior and the consequences of that behavior. Operant conditioning influences personality in that people tend to take up behaviors that they are rewarded for and they keep off those that they are punished for (McLeod, 2007). For instance, if a child abuses another and gets punished for it, he or she will know it is wrong and will therefore not repeat it in the future. Social Cognitive Learning Theories Albert Bandura is behind the social learning theory. He was of the idea that people learn from one another, either by imitating them, observation and even modeling.
