Running Head: JOURNAL WRITING 1 Journal Writing Name Instructor Institution Date JOURNAL WRITING 2 Global and local revisions Both global and local revisions are ways of looking at the content to correct errors in fact and language. With global revisions, the big picture is subjected to review and this includes the revision of ideas, organizational policies, thesis and the theories presented. It simply refers to revising the meaning of the essay in terms of the message and not the medium that the message is presented in. On the other hand, local revisions refer to the semantic form of edits that include grammar, word choice, fluency, chronology of ideas and all the small details that contribute to the message of the essay (Patel, 2017). When doing revisions, it is always important to begin with the global revisions as this helps keep the message. Once the contents of the discussion are well stated and clearly arranged, then the local edits can take place. The flow of the ideas presented helps in gaining objectivity in the draft and when considering global editing, it is important to look at the focus of the discussion, which refers to the subject and main argument, the organization of ideas and arrangement of ideas in the paragraphs in the subject and basically the way ideas have been developed in the paper.
