Aircraft maintenance personnel include: 1. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), also called Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME or L-AME). 2. Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT), or colloquially Airframe and Powerplant (A&P). 3. Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic (AMM). Qualifications/ or Requirements for Aircraft Maintenance Techs ❖Must have at least 30 months of experience working with both systems to apply for the combination A&P license. ❖Must have graduated from approved schools before being eligible to take the certification examinations given by the FAA. ❖Due to advances in technology and the complexity of aircraft systems. Requirements for Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic (AMM). •Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology or other related technical service field •Currently effective FAA Mechanic Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings; and •At least five years’ experience exercising the privileges of both the Airframe and Powerplant mechanic certificate ratings as indicated by 14 CFR Part 65.83.
