Several qualities exist to explain good managers, but there are qualities which make good managers stand out. Qualities which make a good manager differ depending on an organization, strategy, as well as the specific objectives of the manager (Von & McShane, 2005). One of the qualities that stand out is the orientation towards results. It is a critical quality defining good managers since it also ensures a constant motivation for reaching objectives. It is the competitive nature which drives such managers to completion of objectives. Such managers are ambitious and always strive towards surpassing standards. Another quality which makes good managers stand out is assertiveness. Good managers should have some level of assertiveness to get things done. Assertive managers can also influence others and are comfortable leading teams. Additionally, these managers make faster decisions. These managers are also good due to their capabilities of negotiating, closing deals, and reaching objectives. Another standing quality is leadership, which is vital.
