After a thorough review of the information provided in this week’s lecture, I chose two countries, namely, the United States of America and Japan. In order to compare these two countries, I have highlighted the Six Dimensions of Hofstede for both countries, as it is outlined in the Country Comparison segment of the Hofstede Center website. This comparison makes an effort to explain how the Six Dimensions affect each country, and how different the drivers of the culture are especially in the workplace environment. Comparison of Scores Hofstede’s Six Dimensions of Culture include Individualism, Power Distance, Indulgence, Uncertainty Avoidance, Masculinity, and Long-Term Orientation. The United States scored a 91 in Individualism, a 40 in Power Distance, a 68 in Indulgence, a 46 in Uncertainty Avoidance, a 62 in Masculinity, and a 26 in Long-Term Orientation all out of 100.
