Running Head: ENV 101 – CHAPTER 7, 9, AND 10 Journal 3, ENV 101 – Chapter 7, 9 and 10 Name: Professor: Course: Date: 1 ENV 101 – CHAPTER 7, 9, AND 10 2 Journal 3 EVN 101 – chapter 7,9, and 10 Chapter 7 – Populations 1. Why do some populations grow? What factors help to determine the rate of this growth? Some of the world populations grow due to reduced mortality rate and better and readily available medical facilities in a community or a nation. According to ("Overpopulation: Causes, Effects, and Solutions," 2017) The reduction in death rate, better health care, and medical facilities, and improved ways to reduce poverty, better technological improvement in fertility treatment, immigration and inferior family planning methods are the major factors that contribute to population growth. 2. How does the population growth curve of humans compare with that of bacteria on a Petri dish? Bacteria population increases exponentially whereby the population’s growth increases rapidly when there are enough resources over time. The population of human beings does not grow exponentially; they grow logistically. When the growth of the population reaches its carrying capacity, it will be stable, and the exponential curve will level off towards the carrying capacity, which is usually when the organisms have finished most of its natural resources. As cited from ("OpenStax CNX," n.d.) ENV 101 – CHAPTER 7, 9, AND 10 3. 3 All successful organisms overproduce. What adv ...
