I find that the media plays a significant role in these myths. Myths evolve over time due to different perceptions. Issues relating to crime undergo debate and arguments in forums that the media captures. The public, therefore, has information about these issues, which generally enter public forums and undergo distortion. I view the media as a pivotal contributor to the creation of socially accepted myths. The entertainment industry plays a similar role to the media in creating myths regarding criminals. A large number shows that subject on crime and law enforcement mold the perceptions of the public. The fact that stalking is a crime has made me perceive the entertainment industry as a warning system to the public. Although the situations are not realistic, they mimic real-life scenarios.
