Running Head: SYRIA REFUGEES 1 Syria Refugees Name: University SYRIA REFUGEES 2 Following the outbreak of civil war in 2011 in Syria, the country has witnessed a surging number of refugees outpouring into neighboring countries. Indeed, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey have a cumulative number of more than 2.5 million refugees from Syria since the start of the civil war. The country has since been characterized by a continued agitation between progovernment and rebel forces each claiming authority in the country. During the course of the war, more than 250000 Syrians have since lost their lives in the four years of conflict (Alpak et al, 2019). The war that started as countrywide protests turned violent after protestors took arms in defense and to expel government forces from power. The war has been intensified further through the involvement of global powers in the war with different countries supporting different sections of the fighters. Even with the different alliances across the globe, the magnitude of the war remains strong. Regardless of the political alliances, it is the citizens of the country that suffer the most adverse impacts because the forces fight indiscriminately. Syrian refugees in neighboring countries suffer from poor access to healthcare and education owing to socioeconomic and cultural barriers (Achilli, 2018).
