The greenhouse gases include chlorofluorocarbons and carbon dioxide which cumulatively contribute to global warming and climate change. China is the leading country in terms of greenhouse gases from sectors such as energy, industry and agriculture (Feng et al, 208). Although the energy sector contributes the most emissions, the industry and agricultural sectors also emit considerably huge amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. Perhaps most worrying is the fact that China’s greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase in the wake of a growing population and industry. Although the volumes of emissions have continued to increase in recent years, the government has made positive strides in curbing the emissions. Indeed, the country signed the Paris agreement in 2016 thus committing to curb greenhouse gas emissions over the years (Phillips, Harvey & Yuhas, 2016). The developments in China regarding the approach towards greenhouse gas emissions is highly significant in the world.
