Running Head: VIDEO 1 Video: Cascadia-The Hidden Fire Name Institutional Affiliation VIDEO 2 1 “Seismic triple threat” is used by geologists to describe three types of earthquakes associated with the Cascadia Subduction Zone. These types of earthquakes include crustal or shallow earthquakes, deep or intraslab earthquakes, and subduction or megathrust earthquakes. 2 The sources of “Seismic triple threat” are crustal faults, Deep Juan de Fuca Plate, and Subduction Zone. The frequency of occurrence of Subduction Zone occurs is between 500-700 years (Vimeo.com, 2013). The frequency of occurrence of Deep Juan de Fuca Plate is between 30-50 years. The frequency of occurrence of crustal faults is hundreds of years. 3 Elastic rebound theory and plate tectonic theory are two conflicting theories about earthquake occurrence in the CSZ. The elastic-rebound theory offers an explanation of how energy is released in earthquakes. Plate tectonic theory explains the movement of the tectonic plates on the Earth's outer shell. Plate tectonic theory was found to be correct because it explains the thrift the CCZ. 4 Using carbon dating on the spruce, the scientist explained that the sudden changes in the coastal landscape pointed heavily on tsunami and earthquake was advance to prove the validity of Plate tectonic theory that explains about the occurrence of earthquake occurrence in the CSZ. 5 VIDEO 3 The evidence that coastal lands in the Northwest dropped and were inundated by ...
