Running head: 7 QUESTIONS 1 Hatice Alsancak Prof Douzart HIST 1302 - 86402 07.15.2019 Discussion 1 The historical backdrop of the United States is tremendous and complex. It can be summarized as follows. American insurgency, which is some of the time alluded to as the American War of Independence. The United States, in 1789, had its first president (George Washington), then followed unrest in the 1790s. In 1812, there was a war between the U.S and Great Britain. The war resulted to a strained relationship between the two countries. The U.S was divided into Northern and Southern States after 1861-1865 Civil war. Between 1900 and 1999, the significant events that the U.S. engaged in where the World War I and II, the Vietnam War, African American Civil Rights movement, and Apollo 11 mission. From 2000 to date, America experienced its first major terrorist attack in September 2001, and this attack led to a declaration of war with Afghanistan, which is still ongoing. In 2011, Iraq was defeated by the U.S after a war of eight years. In 2008, the U.S got its first African American President Barrack Obama. I have taken a history class and an online course. The experience was remarkably good. I can say that my learning was made more accessible by a vast choice of reading materials. Online libraries, tutorials, and tests helped me a great deal of going about my studies. The amendments and patriotism are the most insightful cultural events that captivated me from the readings.
