Violent Video Game
Playing violent video games and its addiction is a major dilemma globally. The fact that
these games are legal in some countries make people take the issue less seriously since it does not
seem as dangerous to them as other forms of addiction. Legalization of these games does not
mean that it does not have any long-term effects to the users. If people were to consider the
consequences of violent video games would have on their lives and general health, maybe it
would not be such an issue after all (Anderson 19).
Decisions such as whether or not to engage in violent video games are very contentious.
As much as such situations get a person’s mind racing with ideas on what to do or what not to do,
not all the ideas are good. It would be safer if the individual took time to figure out the options
and decide on what to do. Confidence is also crucial in making daily decisions. Individuals need
to have confidence in decisions that they make to avoid having regrets in the future.
Most people hold back out of the fear of making a mistake or failing. In addition, there is
also the fear of not belonging. They get into such addictions to have a sense of belonging. Violent
video games increase a person’s confidence and self-esteem especially when they defeat their
opponents over and again. Besides the entertainment that these games bring, they also make the
players more creative in other areas of their lives.

Video games are electronic games that depict interaction between human and the user
interface to give a visual feedback on the display video device. These devices display different
dimensional images. The video game business has become one of the most successful industries
in the current world because it has developed drastically. Electronic devices started by displaying
video games on personal computers as their sole platform, but in the modern world, there are
various platforms for video games and some of these platforms are such as Ipads, laptops, phones
among other platforms (Willis 81).
Contemporary games are played using both the mouse and keyboard. Every game has a
concept behind it, and one of the ways in which the gaming business has gained much money is
through it’s idea and content. The main intention of many electronic games is to entertain and
keep children busy. In the past, most of the games focused on the idea of car racing, motorcycling
and jets flying. Most of the electronic games did not depict violence in the past because most of
the creators of these games also wanted to teach children good morals through the games they
play (Kutner 67).
In the recent world, this is not the case because most electronic games depict violence
through teaching children how to shoot their enemies, fight with zombies, hit people with their
vehicles and mistreat others. It is very hard to find games that represent peaceful actions today.
Some of the games that do not involve personal confrontation are such as “Need For Speed,”
famously known as “NFS.” This game mainly involves car racing even though to some extent the
virtual characters cause road accidents.
The idea of this game has some content of violence in it, but the level of violence is not
very deep, and most parents are not affected by it. In recent times, there have been many debates
