The video further demonstrates how scientist goes down the oceans to find those creatures and understand how they can improve human lives. Light is not only precious to human being but also different species of animals. As described in the video, the ability of a living creature to produces light is known as bioluminescence (Jeanene, 2016). Some of the living creatures that produce their light include jellyfish, fireflies, and glow worms. Scientist David Gruber and Vincent Pieribone featured in the documentary collect different bioluminescent species to examine their unique light-producing organs and infer how they work. According to their findings, some creatures such as ostracods illuminate to stand out and attract the opposite sex while other species produce light to confuse the predators, find food, and communicate with each other (Jeanene, 2016).
