Indeed, the interaction between humans, for centuries, has been an area of concern. Interaction among humans is facilitated by communication (Parkasan et al. 79). Face-to-face communication is challenging to, but still, people have become more creative and innovative. Social media is the primary source of distant communication that is embraced by almost everyone. The origin of social media can be traced back to 550BC when the first postal service was introduced (Parkasan et al. 79). Since then, social media has continuously been evolving, and by 1792, the first telegraph was invented, which allowed for sending short messages. Home computers later became more common in the 1980s, which made social media to become even more complicated and sophisticated. Most significant advances in social media were witnessed in 2006 when Twitter and Facebook were invented and became available for individuals all over the world (Parkasan et al. 87). Currently, there are several social media from where people can meet with those whom they know and even those whom they do not know on a virtual platform. Despite the continual advances and development in social media, opinion of people on its importance is still equivocal.
