LEADERSHIP APPROACHES AS A TOOL FOR SUCCESS
Introduction
With no question, different leadership approaches play a critical role in attaining success
within an organization. For instance, these strategies serve as an avenue for quality service to be
more accessible to people in today’s time. When people exercise their leadership styles, they
have a tight grasp of both their strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to become effective
leaders (Novi Survey, 2015). Leadership is natural for some people but not entirely innate, hence
why leadership should be learned through development programs where skills are created,
improved, and developed by the help of practice and education (Beato, 2020). Thus, there is a
need for individuals to shift into a positive direction where leadership approaches are utilized as
a whole.
Discussion
There are five (5) leadership approaches that will be mentioned in this discussion. The
first approach is called transformational leadership wherein it involves the improvement of
morale and performance of team members through connections within their identities and the
organization itself (Doyle, 2019). In addition, participative leadership is encouraging
employees when it comes to decisions and mindsets through extensive consultations (Maurer,
2016). On the other hand, value-based leadership deals with empathy and being supportive
towards others; essentially, employees will feel valued and cared for (Maurer, 2016). Moreover,
situational leadership is in line with the concepts of performance readiness, as well as building
communities that are more equitable and inclusive (Doyle, 2019). The last approach was coined
by Robert K. Greenleaf; servant leadership deals with the well-being and growth of
communities and people (Greenleaf, 1970). Fundamentally, if these strategies are used as
