Because of the solar energy boom, Solectron was found in 1977 and was basically focused on dealing with manufacturing solar energy products (Simchi-Levi, Kaminsky & Simchi-Levi, 2008). Sooner or later they started assembling the printed circuit boards for other electronic companies. Solectron was geographically positioned near the Silicon Valley and its electronic manufacturing industry; therefore some of its customers were readily available to access its manufacturing services. Later in the early 1980s, Solectron inclined their efforts towards contract manufacturing; as a result, the job shop enterprise was turned into a very crucial industry. Consequently, it started buying manufacturing facilities of its clients, which allowed them to sign long term supply contracts with them alongside multiplying supply to numerous other customers.
