Leadership and Management in Healthcare
1. What are some Leadership Characteristics of a good leader that you feel are
important? List at least 5 and explain their importance.
Business leaders understand that integrity is the bedrock of good leadership and
that one must stand up for their convictions, and self-confidence is essential for leaders
because it provides them with the wings to take chances, achieve objectives, and soar to
new heights (Wagner, 2018). Also, delegation is critical for improving individual and
team productivity and performance. Additionally, a leader is the busiest individual in a
company. To ensure an organization's effective functioning, leaders must possess
problem-solving abilities and an ability to analyze situations in order to make sound
judgments, and they are self-disciplined and possess strong time management abilities
(Wagner, 2018). They promote a disciplined culture.
2. Describe the purpose of the Medical Practice's Board of Directors. Who should be
on the Board? What is the responsibility of the Board?
The Medical Practice's Board of Directors is sometimes referred to as trustees due
to the fact that the hospital's owners and community entrust them with monitoring the
hospital's best interests. The Board of trustees is the hospital's governing body. They are
in charge of formulating and revising the hospital's overarching purpose and strategy
(Wagner, 2018). By establishing strategic plans and decisions, the Board directs the
hospital's long-term objectives and policies (Wagner, 2018). The Board of trustees does
not manage the hospital's operations; rather, they supervise them.
