Discussion
Healthcare is important for ensuring that people can function effectively. While the
constitution does not explicitly make healthcare a fundamental right that the government
must offer, it requires that people be given equal access to services and facilities. The ethical
issue with limited care is that people lack equal access to care (Pozgar, 2020). When there is
limited care, only individuals who can afford care can access these services and in other
cases, many people cannot access care because of limited resources. Hospitals on the other
side can only afford to provide care that they get compensated for. Hospitals buy supplies and
employ the professionals that offer care. Therefore whether the facility is for-profit or not, the
services need to be paid for to ensure sustainability. People with no resources should find
care from the government (Pozgar, 2020). The government has programs like Medicaid that
seek to provide cover for people who cannot afford it. The government has to ensure that
citizens are covered. The responsibility of the community is to make the leadership
responsible. Ethical factors that need to be considered include the quality and the accessibility
of care to all people.
