HISTORY ESSAYS PAPER 2
History Essays Paper
1. Legacies and consequences of Christopher Columbus’s excursion
Introduction
In this analysis, Christopher Columbus is known for his discoveries and the effects they
had in terms of revolutionizing the world. Columbus was an explorer whose voyages and trips
across the Atlantic Ocean led to the discovery of America. Columbus’s discoveries led to the
exploration and colonization of both North and South America. A new decade full of new
knowledge and exploitation was ushered in by the exploration that Columbus began. Columbus’s
voyages, which had both negative and positive impacts on American natives, are highlighted in
this paper.
Legacies and consequences of Christopher Columbus
First of all, Christopher Columbus was an Italian who was believed to be born in Genoa.
Columbus, later on, was able to study navigation, astronomy, mathematics, and cartography. The
skills he obtained from learning these disciplines were useful in his travels, which yielded
discoveries that changed the world. The 1492 journey of Columbus was recorded in his diary,
which gave a detailed description of what happened during the voyage, among other significant
observations (Irving, 2008). Moreover, the journey promoted scientific discovery as Columbus's
knowledge was valuable to the field of science. Diseases, plants, foods, and animals were
transferred and discovered, bringing more insight into science. It is argued that he did not
discover America, which was termed as a "New World," but his discovery of the "New World"
opened up more exploitations towards America. The trasport of goods and people is associated
with the exploration and movement of people from one place to another.
