The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Signed by President Obama into law in 2010, the Affordable Care Act created significant changes in the health sector by improving access to healthcare for a significant population of Americans. The most significant aspect of the PPACA was the increase in the number of insured Americans, which would in turn increase the eligibility for access to managed healthcare services for the previously disenfranchised individuals. Additionally, it reduced the chances of uncompensated care costs, with the different patients seeking medical assistance now capable of paying for the services. Success of the PPACA was measured through determining the changes in the number of insured patients walking into healthcare facilities. Since its ratification, the number of insured patients has increased significantly (French, Homer, Gumus, & Hickling, 2016).
