His theory was based on the physiological health required to uphold the critical human needs. Maslow in his theory of needs arranged the needs in a descending manner represented in a pyramid. The bottom part consisted of the most critical needs which must be accomplished for the upper needs on the top of the pyramid to be performed (McGuire,2012).That is the upper needs are dependent on the lower needs as represented on the Maslow's pyramid of hierarchy of needs. The needs are arranged as follows from the bottom to the top of the pyramid: Physiological needs, safety needs, belongingness and love needs, esteem needs, and the self-actualization needs.
