Critical Thinking Questions
1. Why do you think it is so important to use proper methods when collecting evidence from
a crime scene? You don’t want to mess up anything when you’re collecting evidence
because it can mess up any data and any results you may get could be wrong.
2. Why do you think forensic science has been increasingly used by the criminal justice
system? By using it, we bring forth evidence and results that we weren’t able to before.
3. Which of the forensic scientist’s responsibilities do you think would be the most
challenging? Why? I think that forensic entomology would be the most challenging
because they have to deal with maggots while trying to produce evidence. That has to be
really disgusting.
4. Which of the forensic scientist’s responsibilities do you think would be the most
interesting to you? Why? I think that forensic odontology sounds the most interesting.
The fact that you can look at someone or something teeth and be able to figure out who
they are and what they came from is absolutely amazing.
5. Which of the specialty areas do you think you would most like to work in? Why? I would
be most interested in forensic anthropology because I’ve always been interested in
finding remains and being able to study who or what it came from. It’s like unlocking a
mystery to me.
